Tennis/Golf elbow
Conditions
Tennis/Golf elbow
Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) and golf elbow (medial epicondylitis) are conditions causing pain in the elbow due to overuse or repetitive strain on the forearm muscles and tendons. They are common in athletes and manual laborers.
Standard Medical Approach:
- Diagnosis: Physical exams, imaging tests like X-rays or MRIs.
- Treatment: Pain relievers, anti-inflammatories, physical therapy, bracing, and sometimes surgery.
Hito Holistic Approach
- Diagnosis: Comprehensive assessment including physical, postural, energetical, emotional, and lifestyle factors.
- Treatment: These two conditions are relating to two different myofascial meridians. The tennis elbow to the line of muscles starting from the upper back and neck and ending to the back of the hand (superficial and deep posterior arm lines). Instead, the golf elbow relates to the lines starting on the sternum and passing through the pectoral, biceps and frontal part of the forearm and hand. Myofascial releases of these lines are the ley for the definitive resolution for these conditions because we get the pain in the elbow but in reality, it is cause by the tension along the entire line(s). In ayurvedic medicine the elbow corresponds to the Solar Plexus (balance with the earth and in life) but in Chinese medicine to the lung or large intestines meridian for the lateral epicondylitis and to the heart or small intestine meridian for the medial epicondylitis. Acupuncture, acupressure, Gua Sha or deep tissue massage, Neuromuscular Taping and chakra rebalancing are incredibly effective on these conditions.
